McDonald’s testing new chicken wraps

By Tom Johnston on 12/2/2010

McDonald’s is testing new chicken wraps in Central Florida, according to a local media report.

A total of 40 McDonald’s restaurants in the nine-county Central Florida are serving up the Fresh Garden Wrap, consisting of grilled or fried chicken breast with shredded cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes and spring mix greens in a flour tortilla wrap, according to a report by Florida Today.

The Fresh Garden Wrap is selling for a suggested retail price of between $3.49 and $3.99, and comes in three varieties: Santa Fe Chicken, topped with black bean and corn mix and BBQ ranch sauce; Roma Chicken, topped with garlic aioli and tomato pesto; and California Chicken, topped with a creamy ranch sauce, the report says.

McDonald’s is gauging consumer sentiment to determine the viability of a national launch.

“The ultimate goal of any test is to ensure that a product would have long-term viability in our close to 14,000 restaurants,” the story quotes Allison Garrett, a McDonald’s spokeswoman based in St. Petersburg, Fla., as saying.
