Shanghai-GM Is First to Pass One Million Mark
U.S. Auto Maker Forecasts Sales Will Grow 15% Next Year

Shanghai GM, General Motors Co.'s passenger-car joint venture in China, recently sold its millionth car, becoming the first auto maker to sell more than one million units in the world's largest auto market in a single year. The buyer, Shanghai resident Zhang Yun, received the keys to his Buick Lacrosse sedan in mid-December from Shanghai-GM President Ding Lei.
Shanghai-GM will sell about 500,000 Buicks this year in China, 490,000 Chevrolets and 16,000 Cadillacs. The biggest U.S. automaker expects to sell about 2.3 million vehicles this year in China, including minivans produced with other joint ventures, and forecasts sales will grow as much as 15% next year.
