China Will Be World's No. 2 Drug Market by 2015
Drug Sales in the Mainland Could Top $50 Billion Next Year
China is set to overtake Japan as the world's second-biggest pharmaceuticals market after the U.S. in 2015, according to Murray Aitken, senior VP for pharmaceutical market information company IMS Health.
China's rise to the No 2 spot is based on soaring demand for western medicines by that country's growing middle class. IMS believes drug sales there will increase by 25% to 27% next year, to more than $50 billion.
