NASA on Sunday released the first 360 degree image of the Sun courtesy of its two Solar TErrestrial RElations Observatory (STEREO) space probes.
These twin probes were aligned directly opposite of each other to capture their images. The STEREO probes launched in 2006 and went in opposite directions with the aim of generating a 3D view of the Sun. These probes are now sending uninterrupted views of the Sun from the front and back.
