Looking for a way to Lower Blood Pressure?

Soy May Lower Blood Pressure

Soy isoflavones may help lower blood pressure in some patients, according to a recent analysis of scientific studies.

In the 11 trials included in the analysis, subjects were randomly assigned to receive soy isoflavones or placebo. Blood pressure was recorded before, during and after therapy.

The researchers concluded that taking 65-153 milligrams of soy isoflavones daily reduced blood pressure after 1-12 months of supplementation. On average, soy isoflavones reduced systolic blood pressure by 2.5 mmHg and lowered diastolic blood pressure by 1.5 mmHg.

The researchers then compared the results of those with high blood pressure (hypertensive) at the start of the study to those with normal blood pressure (normotensive). They found that soy isoflavones significantly decreased blood pressure in hypertensive patients, but not normotensive patients.
