Staying Positive In A Negative World

Having a positive attitude is one of the most important characteristics of successful individuals. A positive attitude will bring you countless advantages in a time when the majority of the world is struggling. The rest of the world may be caught up in doom and gloom but here are some helpful ways you can stay positive:

Don't think negative thoughts. Your thoughts become your reality. If you only focus on positive and empowering thoughts, you will be completely in control of your future. Success will come so much easier when you focus on empowering thoughts.

Avoid negative people. Negative people want to bring you down because misery loves company. If you can't help the negative people in your life become more positive you have to let them go because it will only be a matter of time before you become negative just like them.

Don't read negative stories. Newspapers and television are full of doom and gloom stories and some of it just can't be avoided. But you can balance the equation by reading as many positive and feel good stories as you can. You can actually learn from television if you are watching the right programming.

Stay Hopeful. People can achieve greatness after failing over and over again. It doesn't matter what others believe you can or cannot do. What matters most is what you believe you can do and you can achieve anything you believe. If you have hope, you will find a way to make it happen. Never stop believing.

Don't live in the past. There is nothing you can do about the past except learn from it. Focus on the future and all of its possibilities. You are the creator of your future and you can create the life you want by staying focused on a great outcome.

Look deep for opportunities. Opportunity doesn't go away, it goes to someone else. There are so many opportunities out there right now it is crazy. The greatest risk is the one you don't take. It is times like these when ordinary people have become extraordinary people because they create a new opportunity. Everything that exists in the world today was started by a single thought from someone like you and me.

Have fun in your life. Discover what makes you happy and bottle it. Life is so amazing when you are having fun. Work hard but play just as hard. Keep smiling because it's contagious. We are not here for a long time, but we can have a good time while we're here and a job isn't just a job if you are having fun doing it.

Exercise. Exercising on a regular basis will let you live a longer and healthier life. It gives you more energy. It makes you look better. And it greatly increases a positive sense of self.

Help others who are in need. You will get everything you want in life if you help others get everything they want in their lives. Helping people in need is an extraordinary feeling. Mentor someone who could use your wisdom because you will impact their life forever. Spend time with people who could use a friend. Volunteer your time and connections for local charities.

Commit yourself to never ending improvement. It is times like this when you need to sharpen your skills and knowledge so you can stand out above the rest of the crowd. Learn something new everyday. Read at least an hour a day. This is the information age, use the technology that you have available to you so you can be the best that you can be. Dedicate yourself to constant and never ending improvement.

Are You Addicted To The Internet?

There is no question that the internet is truly a wonder. Want to know something...almost anything? Search the internet and you'll find the answer. It is also an indispensable tool for work, education, and communication. But it can be so seductive that it can become an addiction and interfere with daily life, work and relationships.

When you feel more comfortable with your online friends than your real ones, or you can't stop yourself from playing games, gambling, or compulsively surfing, then you may be using the Internet too much.

The Internet provides a constant, ever-changing source of information and entertainment. Email, blogs, social networks, and message boards allow for both public and anonymous communication about any topic. But how much is too much Internet usage?

Spending a lot of time online only becomes a problem when it absorbs too much of your time, causing you to neglect your relationships, your work, school, or other important things in your life. If you keep repeating compulsive Internet behavior despite the negative consequences in your offline life, then it's time to strike a new balance.

Many people turn to the Internet in order to manage unpleasant feelings such as stress, loneliness, depression, and anxiety. When you are looking for a way to escape your problems, the Internet can be an easily accessible outlet. Losing yourself online can temporarily make feelings such as loneliness, stress, anxiety, depression, and boredom evaporate into thin air.

Signs and symptoms of Internet addiction vary from person to person. There are no set hours per day or number of messages sent that indicate Internet addiction. But here are some general warning signs that your Internet use may have become a problem:

Losing track of time online, having trouble completing tasks at work or home, isolation from family and friends, feeling guilty or defensive about your Internet use, feeling a sense of euphoria while involved in Internet activities.

Another problem is that about 50% of people online lie about their age, weight, job, marital status, or gender. When online friends meet and the real-life person fails to match the online persona, it can create profound emotional disappointment.

As much comfort as the Internet can provide, though, it's important to remember that there are healthier (and more effective) ways to keep difficult feelings in check. These can include exercising, meditating, using sensory relaxation strategies, and practicing simple breathing exercises.

An important aspect of overcoming Internet and computer addiction is to find alternate ways to handle these difficult feelings. It's worth spending some time thinking about the different ways you intend to deal with stressful situations and the daily irritations that would normally have you logging on.

Here are some tips for dealing with Internet addiction:

Ask yourself, "What am I missing out on when I spend so much time on the 'Net?'" Write these activities down and decrease your Internet time to do some of these activities.

Set reasonable Internet use goals and stick to them. Take frequent breaks, at least 5 minutes each hour, and do some other activity.

Alter your routine to break your usage patterns. If you spend evenings on the Internet, start limiting your use to mornings.

Seek out friends and acquaintances who "couldn't care less" about the Internet. Take time to appreciate the fact that all life is not yet online.

Stay connected to the offline world. Visit newsstands, book and music stores, and participate in entertainment such as museums, music, and live theater. Novels and poetry readings are hard to experience online.

Treat the Internet as a tool. Stay focused on the fact that the Internet is a means to an end. Plan your strategy-whether you're looking for information or entertainment-with the end in mind and you'll save valuable time.

Meditation Reduces Stress, Increases Attention

Want to improve your mood and attention while simultaneously reducing your overall anxiety, fatigue and depression levels? A new study indicates that less than one week of meditation can provide these effects. The study was comprised of 40 Chinese undergraduates partaking in 20-minute meditation sessions during a period of 5 days. The meditation used was referred to as integrative body-mind meditation that, according to researchers, included body relaxation, breathing exercises, mental imagery and mindfulness training. After the 5-days of meditation, those participating in the meditation had significantly more improvement with attention and mood testing as compared with the control group - those undergoing no meditation. Moreover, those in the meditation group had a significant decrease in stress related cortisol levels as compared with their non-meditation counterparts. Perhaps the most interesting finding in this study was the fact that these results were attained in just 5 days of 20-minute meditation sessions.

Anatomy of Mid Back

Rib Articulation

The thoracic is unique in that each of it's vertebrae attaches to a pair of ribs. There are 12 thoracic vertebrae and thus, 24 ribs (12 on the left and 12 on the right). Just like adjacent connecting vertebrae can misalign and biomechanically malfunction, so too can the thoracic vertebrae and it's adjacent ribs. When ribs "go out" or misalign in relation to their connecting vertebrae, the individual will often experience sharp pains in the area of the misaligned rib head, especially on twisting movements of the torso.

As with vertebral subluxations, chiropractors can successfully treat rib misalignments with the chiropractic spinal adjustment. The adjustment repositions the rib to it correct position and normalizes impaired motion patterns.

Seth Godin Quotes

Excellence isn’t about meeting the spec, it’s about setting the spec. It defines what the consumer sees as quality right this minute, and tomorrow, if you’re good, you’ll reset that expectation again.
